Start time: 8.30 am
Start time B*: 9.45 am (in Chio)
Incl. 3 energy bars, 1 energy gel, isotonic drinks, a lunch and 2 small breaks.
During this road cycling tour, we will start cycling from sea level, climbing from Las Americas to Chio.
In Chio, cyclists of the 100 km (B*) tour have the option to join us.
After a small coffee break, we will have a short downhill towards Taimaimo, after which we will start to climb to Santiago del Teide.
Then we climbing the first of three steep hills, all of which is done surrounded by the spectacular Masca Valley.
Hopefully, after having cycled through the Masca area, you will start to understand why this area is protected by Unesco: it will take your breath away (and not just due to the climb).
After the last steep hill, we make a long decent down to Buenavista del Norte, where we will have a break.
After the break, we cycle via a rural road to Las Cruces where we will start to climb over nice quiet roads back to Erjos.
While we are climbing, again we see stunning views, this time over the northen island and the coast with lots of banana plantations on oursides.
At a later section of this climb, you can clearly see "the peak" of El Teide appearing on our left side.
Back in Santiago del Teide, we will have a short break to catch our breath and reflect on the landscapes and journey we just made.
After this, we will climb up until the village Arguayo where then a long decent awaits us.
These roads will lead us via Chio, with just a few hills inbetween, back to our starting (and finish) point in Las Americas.

El Teide Parador challenge Tour
108 km - 2600 m - hard
Start time: 9 am
Incl. 2 energy bars, 1 energy gel, isotonic drinks, a lunch and a small break.
We start this road cycling tour at sea level at Las Americas, from which we will take the shortest road to El Teide.
This means a continuous 34k uphill is awaiting for us, meaning we know one thing for sure: we have lots of climbing pleasure.
Via a rural road, we climb to La Camella, which is the hardest part of the tour, having that done at the beginning for sure it will give you a great feeling.
After La Camella, we climb all the way up to Vilaflor with a spectacular view over the south coast for the biggest part of the uphill. In Vilaflor, we have a break to regain our energy for the second part off the climb to El Teide.
Upon reaching the national park, we have a nice short descend to the crater where we can spot Teide’s majestic peak.
We will then cycle 7 km through the crater until the Parador hotel for the closest view of the peak.
If we are lucky, we will be able to spot some pro-cyclists in front of the Parador Hotel.
They often come at this hotel, they use it as their home base when training on the island of Tenerife. After this, we will be cycling via the crater a long and easy descend to Chio so that we can make a stop at the famous cyclingbar Parada. This again could be a place where we can spot the pros.
From Chio we are almost making a straight descend with a few hilly meters up back finishing at our starting point in Las Americas.
